Wyndham Commuters Warned of West Gate Lane Closures Tonight

Wyndham residents heading into the city tonight are being warned to prepare for possible delays as the outer lanes of the West Gate Freeway close for overnight works.

From 9pm Thursday 26 June until 5am Friday 27 June, VicRoads will close the citybound outer lanes between the M80 interchange and Williamstown Road to allow crews to continue installing and upgrading electronic freeway management systems.

The outer lanes include access to entry and exit ramps — which many Wyndham drivers rely on during peak and off-peak travel. However, inner lanes will remain open, allowing uninterrupted express travel to the West Gate Bridge.

The works are part of ongoing upgrades to keep Melbourne’s freeways running more efficiently, but they could pose a minor inconvenience for Wyndham commuters heading towards the CBD or inner-west suburbs during the overnight closure.

Drivers from Point Cook, Werribee, Tarneit and surrounds are advised to plan ahead, allow extra time, or consider alternate routes via the Princes Freeway or Geelong Road.

Live updates and detour maps are available via www.vicroads.vic.gov.au and the VicTraffic social media channels.
