
The alleged incident involved theft, assault, and attempted escape.
On June 17th, a woman was arrested by police after being involved in a shoplifting and assault incident at a shopping centre in Hoppers Crossing.
It is alleged that a 40-year-old woman from Hoppers Crossing entered a store within the centre at approximately 1 pm and took items worth around $200. It is further alleged that she physically assaulted two Loss Prevention Officers when they confronted her.
Subsequently, the woman fled in a vehicle and while attempting to evade the arriving police, she ran a red light at the pedestrian crossing, narrowly avoiding pedestrians.
The incident also led to traffic congestion out on Derrimut Road as shoppers were unable to enter the car park due to the police operation.
The shopping centre has been plagued with various incidents.
