Wyndham City Arts and Culture, in an exciting collaboration with Hobson’s Bay Council, is proud to present the enchanting event, ‘Wunder Gym: Recollection – Where the Western Region Environment Comes Alive,’ as an integral part of the prestigious Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Prepare to embark on a creative journey as The Annex at Wyndham Cultural Centre transforms into a haven of artistic expression, hosting a remarkable new group exhibition by Wunder Gym. This captivating exhibition will run from October 5th to October 22nd, offering a unique and immersive experience for all art enthusiasts.
Wyndham City’s Creative City portfolio Holder, Cr Marcel Mahfoud said: “Wunder Gym is a practical art program that provides the opportunity to stretch emerging, established and curious creatives and extend their skills and practice.”
Under the guidance of esteemed mentor Elvis Richardson, artists from Melbourne’s vibrant Western region have undergone a transformative journey, discovering fresh perspectives and drawing inspiration from their local environment and communities, which serve as their boundless artistic playground.

“This creative prompt invited artists to be collectors, editors and curators using their local environment’s objects, recordings, sounds and images as their raw material and inspiration for their artwork. Exploring how their art practice changes the function of the chosen object.”

In addition to the splendid exhibition at The Annex, be sure to explore ‘Recollection XL,’ a series of awe-inspiring, large-scale temporary public art installations, which will grace the Laneway Gallery at 44 Woods Street Laverton and the Altona Civic Centre.
