Art Prize Returns To Wyndham

The 2026 Wyndham Art Prize finalist exhibition opens at the Wyndham Art Gallery in Werribee on Saturday 31 January 2026, bringing together artists, residents and the local creative community.

The exhibition features 80 shortlisted works selected from 700 entries submitted by artists across Australia, including 10 works by Wyndham-based artists.

Cr Mia Shaw says the exhibition plays an important role in connecting the community with contemporary art.

“The Wyndham Art Prize is our Gallery’s premier exhibition and showcases both emerging and established artists,” Cr Shaw says.

The works explore materiality and use a wide range of mediums, including painting, sculpture and photography, alongside textiles, drawing and installation.

Visitors are invited to attend the opening and awards ceremony on Saturday 31 January from 3pm to 5pm, providing an opportunity to view the artworks, hear prize announcements and meet artists from Wyndham and beyond. The event includes live music, hosted by MC Dagogo Obogo and PBS FM’s DJ Friday. Elle Young.

Established in 2015, the Wyndham Art Prize has grown into one of Australia’s larger art awards and continues to attract strong interest from artists nationwide.

The Wyndham Art Prize finalist exhibition runs from Saturday 31 January 2026 to Sunday 22 March 2026. Gallery opening hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm, and Saturday to Sunday 10am to 3pm.
