Shortlisted artists to receive $2,000 for concept development.
Wyndham City Council is inviting artists and artist collectives to submit expressions of interest (EOI) for a new public artwork to be installed at Ironbark Fields in Tarneit. The selected artwork will be displayed on the pavilion wall facing the training pitch at 1275 Leakes Rd, Tarneit, and is expected to be installed by June 2025.
The opportunity is open to artists, including those without prior experience in mural installation. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend a 30-minute Cultural Value session facilitated by the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation to ensure the proposed artwork aligns with local culture and history. Bunurong and other First Nations artists are strongly encouraged to apply.
The project aims to enhance community connection to the area through truth-telling and storytelling, with an emphasis on inclusivity. The wall designated for the artwork measures 45.2 metres in width and between 4.4 to 5.4 metres in height.
A working group will shortlist three artists, each receiving $2,000 to develop a concept proposal. The final selected artist will receive $15,000 (excluding GST) for artwork licensing, travel, liaison with the installer, and participation in the artwork launch. All installation costs, including lift hire, materials, labour, and permits, will be covered separately.
