Today, Minister for Youth Natalie Suleyman announced that Wyndham City Council will receive $150,000 to refurbish their existing Youth Resource Centre.
This centre is dedicated to helping young people aged 12 to 25 with counselling and mental health support, employment and general youth support services and programs.
The grant will be used to upgrade consulting rooms, a commercial kitchen, and a foyer area in order to ensure safe and easy access to the hub.
The Youth Hubs Grant Program is part of the Government’s five–year Youth Strategy ‘Our promise, Your future’, which is providing $1 million in funding to upgrade or create youth hubs in outer metropolitan Melbourne.
Co–designing with young Victorians is an important part of the program, as it allows for tailored services and programs, as well as opportunities for meaningful decision–making and for their voices, lived experiences and solutions to be heard.
With the help of this funding, Wyndham City Council will be able to create a more welcoming and accessible hub for those in need of support.
