Roads, Parks, Community Centres, and More Enhance Livability in Wyndham City.
Over the course of 2022/23, Wyndham City has dedicated a substantial sum of $125 million to its capital works program. This significant investment has been utilized to develop vital infrastructure, including roads, parks, open spaces, and community centres, catering to the needs of our expanding community.
Notably, two new community centres have been established in the past year. The Bembit Bag-rook Community Centre in Tarneit, valued at $5.7 million, and the Birnbial Family Centre in Manor Lakes, costing $8.2 million, now provide an array of community, health, and educational services. These centres, situated in high-growth areas, offer essential programs such as kindergarten and maternal and child health support.

Improvements to the local road network have also received significant attention, with a $5 million rehabilitation of Sayers Road (between Tarneit Road and Reflections Boulevard) in Tarneit. This endeavour aims to enhance the road’s quality, safety, and overall driving experience. Furthermore, 12 local roads have been rebuilt, and an additional 49 have been resurfaced through the annual Road Reconstructions Program and Road Surface Renewal Program.
Wyndham City Mayor, Susan McIntyre, highlighted several notable projects, including a $1 million upgrade to the Boundary and Davis Road intersection in Mount Cottrell, the opening of the Williams Landing Library Lounge, and the completion of Truganina’s $15.1 million Alcock Road Reserve. The city has also prioritized sporting facilities, upgrading seven sporting pavilions and renovating the Werribee Outdoor Pool concourse. Additionally, 11 parks and open spaces have been enhanced through the Parks Asset Renewals Program.

Furthermore, numerous capital works projects have made significant progress in the past year. Stages one and two of the $15.95 million Webster Street Reserve and the $5.6 million Brookdale Road Reserve in Point Cook have been completed, providing active open spaces for the community. Construction is currently underway for two new community centres: the $13.7 million Black Forest Road South Community Centre in Werribee and the $18 million Truganina Community Centre.
Looking ahead, Wyndham City has plans for future infrastructure developments, including the initiation of a $13.5 million duplication project for Tarneit Road (between Sayers Road and Leakes Road) in late 2023. The construction of the Davis and Dohertys Road intersection upgrade in Tarneit is also set to commence later this year.
Mayor Susan McIntyre emphasized the importance of providing necessary infrastructure close to home, given that Wyndham City is the fastest-growing area in Australia. This significant investment in the 2022/23 capital works program reflects the council’s unwavering commitment to delivering quality amenities and infrastructure, ensuring a desirable and livable environment for all community members in Wyndham City.
