Annual Road Reconstructions Program Targets Key Hoppers Crossing and Werribee Areas
Wyndham City has officially initiated its annual Road Reconstructions Program, marking the commencement of comprehensive road reconstruction projects at Ashton Crescent (stretching from Voltaire Court to Alsace Avenue), Chigwell Court, and Priorswood Drive in Hoppers Crossing. Construction activities are underway to enhance these road sections.
In the coming months, the city is set to embark on nine additional road reconstruction projects, with seven located in Hoppers Crossing and two in the Werribee City Centre. These initiatives are scheduled to start in the first half of 2024.
Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Jennie Barrera, emphasized the positive impact of these projects on suburban streets, making them smoother, safer, and more enjoyable for everyday use. She highlighted the significance of road improvement as a key focus of Wyndham City’s 2023/24 budget, allocating $8.4 million for the reconstruction of 12 roads throughout the city.

Cr Barrera explained that the reconstruction efforts aim to not only enhance the quality of roads but also to minimize ongoing maintenance expenses, eliminating the need for temporary solutions like patching potholes. Additionally, Wyndham City is channeling $2.6 million into its Road Surface Renewal Program to maintain and upgrade 33 local roads during the 2023/24 period.
Highlighting the community-oriented approach, Cr Barrera mentioned that the council regularly monitors roads across the municipality and takes community feedback into account to guide these annual road programs.
