Wyndham City Serves an Ace: Game, Set, Match at Victorian Tennis Awards!

She lauded the diligent committees and coaches who have played a pivotal role in nurturing their tennis clubs, thus ensuring that the infrastructure provided by Wyndham City is optimally utilized, and the programs supported by Tennis Victoria enjoy significant participation.

She lauded the diligent committees and coaches who have played a pivotal role in nurturing their tennis clubs, thus ensuring that the infrastructure provided by Wyndham City is optimally utilized, and the programs supported by Tennis Victoria enjoy significant participation.

Councillor McIntyre also highlighted the successful endeavours undertaken in conjunction with Tennis Victoria, such as the establishment of the Truganina Tennis Club at the new Alcock Road Reserve. Furthermore, she pointed out that Wyndham City has made significant investments in tennis facilities, including the opening of tennis amenities at the Alcock Road Reserve in Truganina and the Webster Street Reserve in Point Cook, as part of their plans for the 2022/23 period.

Wyndham City has proactively engaged in planning and executing a variety of tennis-specific projects, including:
– Initiating a tender process for the construction of six courts at the newly developed Polly Parade Reserve in Tarneit.
– Collaborating with Sport and Recreation Victoria and the Dane Nebel Tennis Academy to upgrade three courts with energy-efficient LED lighting at Saltwater Reserve in Point Cook.
– Launching a tender process for the refurbishment and resurfacing of three courts at Wootten Road Reserve in Tarneit.
– Designing the redevelopment of selected courts at Galvin Park Tennis in Werribee.

Councillor Peter Maynard, the holder of Wyndham City’s Active City portfolio, emphasized the importance of tennis as a priority sport for residents, as identified in the Wyndham Sports Strategy. He explained that the dynamic and growing municipality of Wyndham City continues to proactively plan and develop sustainable tennis facilities and infrastructure, aligning with Tennis Victoria’s Thriving Tennis Communities framework. Wyndham City also offers access to 18 freely accessible courts throughout the community, with many of them equipped with book-a-court technology. They further provide enjoyable tennis activities at major events and holiday programs with the support of Tennis Victoria, thereby contributing to the overall well-being of the community and witnessing the enthusiasm of residents for their tennis programs and facilities.
