The Labor Government today announced the Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel for 2023, comprising 13 mayors from rural, regional and urban communities across Victoria.

Notably, the fastest-growing Local Government Area in the state, Wyndham City Council, is not represented on the Panel. As one of Victoria’s fastest-growing municipalities, Wyndham City has a large and diverse population, so understandably, many of its residents feel excluded and underrepresented.

The group is set to provide advice on legislative, regulatory, strategic and policy issues affecting Local Government Areas in the state. The Panel, which changes annually, is expected to focus its work on governance and accountability.

The members of the Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel are:
  • Cr Annemarie McCabe, Baw Baw Shire Council
  • Cr Andrea Metcalf, Greater Bendigo City Council
  • Cr James Magee, Glen Eira City Council
  • Cr Antoinette (Tony) Briffa , Hobsons Bay City Council
  • Cr Sophie Price, Indigo Shire Council
  • Cr Hadi Saab, Kingston City Council
  • Cr Fiona Stevens, Mitchell Shire Council
  • Cr Augustina Samardzija, Monash City Council
  • Cr Pierce Tyson, Moonee Valley City Council
  • Cr Rosie Annear, Mount Alexander Shire Council
  • Cr Karen Foster, Moyne Shire Council
  • Cr Laura Binks, Strathbogie Shire Council
  • Cr Claudia Nguyen, Yarra City Council

The Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel is an important avenue for the Minister for Local Government to hear directly from the people at the centre of their communities.
