Charges Laid Over Shooting, Burglary And Stolen Goods
Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives charge two men following arrests by the Special Operations Group in Melton West on 13 January.
The arrests on High Street form part of several ongoing investigations into incidents, some involving firearms, dating back to October last year.
A 29-year-old man from Altona is charged with 12 offences, including stalking, prohibited person use and possession of a firearm, reckless conduct endangering life, possession of a drug of dependence, cultivating cannabis and handling stolen goods.
The charges relate to an alleged ongoing dispute between parties, where it is claimed a tracking device was installed on a vehicle on 7 December. They also relate to an incident on 28 December, where it is alleged several shots were fired using a 3D-printed firearm at various objects in a street in Altona. Police also allege the offences include the execution of a warrant at an Altona property on 13 January, where suspected stolen goods were seized.
A second 29-year-old man from Sunshine is charged with 10 offences, including prohibited person use and possession of a firearm, reckless conduct endangering life, burglary and theft.
His charges also relate to the alleged 28 December firearm incident in Altona, the alleged theft of a mail parcel containing camping heaters on the same date, an alleged burglary and theft at a property in Dromana on 7 December, and the alleged theft of food and drink from a convenience store in Dromana on 24 October.
Both men are remanded in custody and are due to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 13 January.
