In short:
A Wyndham Vale household has been fined $2,035 after dumping rubbish in a car park ahead of a rental inspection — then dumping the same waste on another resident’s hard waste collection after being directed to clean it up.
Caught In The Act — Twice!
A household in Wyndham Vale has been fined $2,035 after being caught illegally dumping rubbish — not once, but twice.
The resident was preparing for a rental inspection and rather than disposing of their waste properly, chose to dump it in a nearby car park.
Wyndham City’s Local Laws Officers tracked down the offender and directed them to remove the rubbish and dispose of it through legal channels.
Same Rubbish, New Location
But the lesson didn’t stick.
The same pile of rubbish was later found dumped on top of another resident’s hard waste collection — an attempt to pass off the illegally dumped items as someone else’s booked collection.
Local Laws Officers identified the waste as the same material from the initial car park dump and issued a fine of $2,035.
Free Alternatives Available
Every item in the dumped pile could have been disposed of at no cost through Council’s booked Hard and Green Waste Collection service, or taken to the tip using a free Council tip voucher.
Illegal dumping costs the whole community — from clean-up costs to the impact on neighbourhoods and the environment.
Residents are urged to plan ahead when cleaning up and take advantage of the waste services freely available to them.
