Wyndham's main celebration finds a new stage at Penrose Place.
For the first time, Tarneit will host the main Australia Day program on Sunday, 26 January 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Penrose Place.
Traditionally held at Wyndham Park in Werribee, this flagship event is moving to Tarneit, following smaller Australia Day celebrations previously held in suburbs such as Point Cook and Hoppers Crossing. This provides Tarneit residents the chance to experience the larger-scale festivities locally.
The family-friendly event will include live music, children’s activities, and roving performances. Visitors can enjoy a musical act for kids, 60s-inspired tunes, Bollywood dancing, high-energy beats from Africa, and ukulele performances. There will also be free craft activities for children, face painting, and roving entertainers such as bubble artists, circus performers, stilt walkers, and a brass band.
Food trucks will be available on-site, or attendees can bring their own picnics. The program will also include the presentation of awards recognising individuals for their contributions to the community.
After years of hosting the main event at Wyndham Park in Werribee and smaller events in other suburbs, this move to Tarneit reflects a shift in making the flagship celebration accessible to more parts of Wyndham.
