Wyndham’s Pop-Up Library Van Hits the Road.

The Wyndham Library Pop-Up Van was officially launched today at Saltwater Community Centre.

Wyndham City’s Deputy Mayor and Learning City Portfolio Holder, Cr Jasmine Hill, said: “The Pop-Up Library Van is a wonderful addition to our suite of Library services and offers remote and agile library services.”

“Council is bringing the Library to the community through our Pop-Up Library Van, addressing service gaps in Wyndham.”

“The Pop-Up Library van will visit locations across Wyndham, delivering free Library services, programs and offering a small collection of books to browse and borrow and high speed WIFI.”

“The Pop-Up Library Van will be rostered to visit different locations, four days a week during business hours with two staff members on board.”

“Our community told us they want to access library services in their local area and the new Pop-Up Library Van will make it easier for residents in new and developing areas to access Library services through the Pop-Up Library Van visiting their location.”

Council appreciates the State Government contributing funding through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program of $97,428, with Council co-contributing $101,747 to bring the Pop-Up library Van to completion.

Wyndham Libraries successfully applied for a Living Libraries Grant and purchased a Mercedes Sprinter van last year that has been converted into the Wyndham Pop-Up Library Van.

The Pop-Up Library Van underwent a full fit-out to ensure staff had all the equipment and materials needed to take library services out to the community. The fit-out included installation of state-of-the-art extendable shelving, a full sound system, external lighting, and an awning for shelter during the warmer months.

The Pop-Library Van will visit a number of Community Centre across Wyndham. For more information and to find out where the Pop-Library Van is visiting next go to:
