Wyndham Council is seeking input from young people on a new outdoor youth space at the Manor Lakes Community Learning Centre. The project aims to create a safe, social and active area for youth in Melbourne’s west.
Young Voices Wanted For New Space
Wyndham Council is inviting local young people to have their say on the design and use of a new outdoor youth space in Manor Lakes.
Those aged 12 to 25 can share their ideas for the new area planned at the Manor Lakes Community Learning Centre.
The project is supported by state government funding aimed at encouraging recreation, social connection, and community engagement among young residents. The proposed site will sit beside the Youth Services hub at the centre, along the northern edge of the car park.
Mayor Mia Shaw said the space will be designed to support a range of activities and casual play throughout the year, with shade and seating included.
“During earlier consultation with young people who use the centre, a basketball ring and futsal goal were the most popular suggestions,” she said.
“Manor Lakes Community Learning Centre is a welcoming hub where young people gather after school to catch up with friends and use facilities like the community centre and library.
“It is wonderful that we can now provide an additional space where young people and other users of the centre can have fun, stay active, socialise and where we can expand opportunities for community programming.”
Residents can share their feedback before 2 November via theloop.wyndham.vic.gov.au/outdoor-youth-space.
