Futuristic Twist Down Main Street
A new mural combining street art and augmented reality has been installed at 143 Watton Street in Werribee.
Titled What Does Your Future Hold?, the artwork was created by British artist INSA and transforms the building’s facade into a digital fortune-telling experience.
The colourful design features geometric patterns and a series of symbols inspired by local communities and wildlife.
Using augmented reality (AR), visitors can interact with the artwork through their smartphones, turning the mural into a digital ‘wall of fortune’.
Rather than providing specific predictions, the experience presents a selection of symbols that visitors can interpret for themselves, drawing on the traditional concept of fortune telling.
International Artist Behind The Work
INSA is a British artist and designer whose career spans graffiti, large-scale murals, design and digital media.
A graduate of Goldsmiths, University of London, he began his career painting streets and buildings around the world.
His work has been exhibited at Tate Britain and is held in London’s Victoria and Albert Museum collection.
He is also recognised for developing GIF-ITI, a technique involving repeatedly repainting murals to create animated digital artworks.
The Werribee installation draws inspiration from Bolivian architect Freddy Mamani, incorporating geometric designs and retro-futuristic imagery influenced by the aesthetics of the 1980s.
