A Williamstown woman has won $4 million after a Facebook post prompted her to check a lottery ticket she had forgotten about.
The woman held the only division one winning entry nationally in the 18 August 2026 draw.
“I forgot about the ticket until I was scrolling on Facebook and I saw one of your posts,” she said.
“I checked the ticket before bed, and I immediately thought something was wrong. I couldn’t believe it.”
The woman said she had not initially told her partner because she was unsure whether the win was real.
“This is only the second lottery ticket that I’ve purchased this year! I’m feeling incredibly lucky.”
She plans to use the money to pay off the house she bought last year, donate to animal charities and travel.
“I will pay off my house! I bought my house last year and now I can pay it off which is exciting!” she said.
The winning ticket was purchased from a Laverton news agency.
