Police are investigating after a man was seriously injured in a stabbing in Wyndham Vale on Friday night.
Emergency services were called to an oval on Provan Drive about 7.45pm on Friday, 21 August, following reports a man had been stabbed.
Witnesses say the man had been training at the oval before the incident.
It is understood a vehicle was waiting nearby as the man finished training. Witnesses say that as he walked back towards his car, he was approached by a number of males and stabbed.
The circumstances leading up to the attack remain under investigation.
The injured man was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police attended the scene and commenced an investigation, however no arrests have been made at this stage.
